Bed Bug K-9 Facts
Effectiveness: Commitment and passion is what drives our teams to be number one. Our team leaders are father, son and an experienced professional canine trainer. This gives us the ability to say that our canine inspections are 98% accurate compared to other teams at 75% and the experienced human inspections of 30%. We will also confirm alerts when we feel it is needed or asked. Confirming a dog alert can take more time but sometimes it is necessary to be sure of what we are dealing with. A canine can inspect a room in less than 5 minutes without disrupting its contents. A human will take over 20 minutes to an hour to perform such an inspection and can only rely on his eyes and experience. Our canines are deligently trained several times a day, keeping the team sharp and on task at all times.
The canine nose can detect live bed bugs and live eggs. A dog’s nose has been used in scent detection for decades and we have come to trust them with out lives. Now we can trust them enough to enable us to sleep tight!
Dana K9 can find termites
Every Year, Subterranean Termites in the U.S. Cause Approx. $5 Billion in Damages!
Termites eat wood, and can consequently cause great structural damage to your home if left unchecked and untreated. A typical homeowner’s insurance policy does not cover destruction caused by termites, even though they cause over 1 billion dollars in damage to homes throughout the United States each year. Our K9 inspection program can help you understand the threat of termites, and can assist you to take the necessary steps to protect your home. When we do an inspecti0n with our termite team, we call it team Ethel, we make recommendations on removing what you may not see as conducive conditions. Ethel, unlike human inspections, can smell termite pheromone behind finished walls, behind or within block foundations, under slabs where the human inspector cannot see. A professional termite inspector from a licensed Home Inspector or Pest Control Technician is limited to visual inspections unless you would like to remove wall boards and drill holes in the concrete.
At Dana K9 and R. Dana Pest Control, we recommend that a visual termite inspection be performed once-a-year, while incorporating a K9 inspection every two years. If you are BUYING a home, whether new or older, it is important to know for sure what is beneath the ground and what is around the foundation. If a tree is within close proximity to the foundation and it is found to have termites, a monitoring system would be recommended to help intercept any foraging termites from gaining access to your foundation. This is not a guarantee but a tool to help find early signs of a possible termite problem before damage is done. For a buyer, this is a bargaining tool to make sure your investment is sound. R. Dana Pest Control does perform termite monitoring and treatments for our clients. We will explain, recommend, help correct and educate you through the process.
